“Have I got what it takes?” “Am I good enough?” “Can I really do what other investors have done?”

The short answer is yes.

But you see, often these sneaky voices in our head love torturing us when we are trying something new, I’m sure you can relate.

Fear of failure and having no fall back. Fear of getting it wrong and looking silly. Fear of the unknown and ridicule all leads to anti-success behaviour.

It keeps you small, blocks your progress and limits your achievement.

Perhaps you picked it up along the way? Someone taught it to you?

The good news is, it’s not who you truly are.

Here are some steps to put that f.o.u.r. letter word out of its misery once and for all:

Decide (Fear feeds on inaction) It’s going to totally change your life, and the results you get. No one’s saying it’s going to be easy, but the rewards are infinitely huge, infinitely possible, and totally down to you.

Ask anyone you know who’s successful in property this question:

‘Do you wish you’d started investing in property earlier than you did?’

How many of them give you a resounding ‘YES!’ In fact, more to the point, how many actually say ‘No?’ That’s like asking a millionaire if they wished they’d started making money earlier!

Look for the truth. Look for the facts (Fear feeds on lies) ‘My mate Rodney told me down the local pub the property market is going to crash, so I think I’ll wait’

‘It’s too risky.’

If we listened to everyone about everything then we would get nowhere, especially ‘pub talk’ that suggests one day that everyone should be in property and then the market is going to crash the next day [generally from the same person, or even better from the same newspaper!].

We once read two articles in a very large newspaper that had completely contrasting views about the property market in successive days!

Only listen to those who have been investing. For everyone else ask: How long have they been investing? How many properties have they bought? What relevant evidence can they give me to support their suggestions?

Would you trust them? Are they an expert in their field?

What’s the worst that can happen? The biggest way to reduce risk is increase knowledge. (Fear feeds on the unknown)

The world rewards those with knowledge who put it into action. The world rewards those who know how to make money, with lots of money

Investing in property, in your power team and community, in your education and training, in your knowledge and experience, pays the best rate of interest and return.

Stop limiting your knowledge. Take it all. Bathe in it. Whether consciously or unconsciously, you can only become it in the end.

Your knowledge represents you. It’s who you are. I believe in you.

But a word of caution:

Knowledge doesn’t change the world. Knowledge doesn’t get results. Action does my friend.

“To know and not to do is not to know – just go” – Rob Moore

‘Get perfect later.’ (Fear feeds on perfectionism) We are all going to make mistakes. Mistakes are necessary. Mistakes are part of the journey to success that can’t be avoided. Knowing that this is a fact of [successful] living, why not go out and make a few?

Accept this as part of our journey; you can even start enjoying a few of them by seeing the funny side, or knowing that you’ve ticked another off the list and got one mistake closer to success, or you’ve got over one more hurdle that most people fall short of.

A great friend of ours likes to make as many mistakes as he can up front because he believes that the more mistakes he makes quickly, the closer to his goal he is getting, in less time.

We really admire that attitude.

Start now my friend, and when you make that decision, you should be proud of yourself.

Don’t wait to run the marathon. Take the first step today. (Fear feeds on waiting for the ‘right time’)

Both indecision and over analysis essentially lead to the same thing: a long and windy road to nowhere:

‘I want to wait to see what the market is doing.’

‘I don’t have enough money yet.’ [So I might as well give up!]

‘I don’t have enough time.’ [Less than everyone else?]

‘I’m getting my leaflets designed’

‘I’m ‘researching on Rightmove’

Or the worst one: ‘I’m getting all my ducks in a row’

Can you relate?

At some point you have to stare that procrastination monster in the face and conquer the beast

“Fears are educated into us and can, if we wish, be educated out.”

So “educate them out”. Beginning today. You’re smart. A go-getter. A person of excellence–and vision

Inspire others by your bigness. Dream big but start small. Act now. Don’t stop. Change the world.
